Pregnancy Style: It's in the Details

Pregnancy Style: It's in the Details

As I've mentioned in my previous post, I was lucky enough to have received maternity clothing from my mom and Claire when I was home visiting last month.  They purchased wonderful and practical items such as summer dresses and tops.  One in particular was a white maternity top from ASOS.  ASOS has proven to be a real gem when it comes to maternity clothing.  A key to purchasing maternity clothing is choosing items that will grow with you.  At 30 weeks pregnant, this top still fits as well as when I was 25 weeks.

This particular top is quite simple in design.  The lightweight fabric makes it ideal for hot and humid weather (the general trend in Munich for the summer.)  The white color also makes it quite easy to pair with many different bottoms, jackets and sweaters (the more use from maternity clothing the better!)

Today, I've paired it with another maternity summer staple: navy shorts.

One aspect I like about this top is that it isn't obvious maternity clothing, with side ruching or a clingy fit.  Besides the side pleats near the bust, the top has a very simple cut.  This pairs well with its feminine details of lace edging and buttons running down the back.

I've gotten in the habit of wearing this particular gold necklace (purchased in Amsterdam with Claire) with many clothing items, and this shirt pairs nicely with it, as it shows of the gold chain also in the back.  The buttons of the top are just for show, and do not need to be fastened every time when putting this top on.

The fact that this top is not one of the more traditional maternity styles means this can be kept in my closet for wearing after the little one has arrived, meaning more use out of maternity purchases!
