Springing Ahead

For many of us, winter seems to be an endless stretch of gray, frigid weather. Slowly but surely, however, the snow is melting and the sun is beginning to make a regular appearance. For fashion, this means that store windows are displaying what are this spring's trends. There are a few we are looking forward to, including statement sleeves and ruffles.
Zara's spring styles.
One of the most biggest trends we've seen so far are statement sleeves. This can involve either ruffles or puff sleeves for a particularly feminine effect. You can find these in stiffer fabrics, such as cotton, for a structured look, as well as delicate chiffon, resulting in a softer look. The window display shown above proves that these pieces can either be dressed up or down, resulting in a flexible style.
Ruffles are also having a big moment, and you can find them on dresses as well as tops. This particular dress from Zara offers not only ruffles, but a unique back detail as well. A black sash is tied in back, which compliments the open back concept of the dress. The bright yellow offers a transition from the darker colors of winter. If you're looking for a fun, on-trend detail to add to your wardrobe, Micro-Closet recommends ruffles.
Claire styled Micro-Closet's her statement sleeves with a high waisted trousers and nude pumps for an office-appropriate look.
Claire recently took the statement sleeve plunge and purchased a ruffle blouse with contrast cuffs. She opted for a cotton button-up that she could dress up with slacks and pumps for an office-appropriate outfit, but can also pair with a leather mini and booties for an evening out.
